Setting up Two Factor Authentication

Setting Up Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) (Districts Only - NOT FOR ECBOCES STAFF)

To protect your account and to be compliant with insurance requirements, we are now requiring Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for all websites that use our authentication - this includes our website, Zoom, Enrich, etc. With 2FA, you’ll log in using your username and password plus a code from an app on your phone.

Follow the steps below to get set up:

1. Install an Authenticator App

Choose one authenticator app and install it on your phone. If you’re on your phone, just tap the link; otherwise, use your camera to scan the QR code for the appropriate app.  If that does not work, open the App Store/Play Store and search for the app name.

Google Authenticator

Android – Google Play

iPhone/iPad – App Store

Microsoft Authenticator and FreeOTP (open-source) are also supported if you already have them installed but we recommend Google Authenticator.

2. First Time Setup

MAKE SURE TO CLICK THE LINK BELOW AND THEN FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON THAT PAGE. THE LINKED PAGE WILL HAVE THE QR CODE THAT YOU NEED TO SCAN FROM YOUR APP.
  1. Click here to set up 2FA
  2. Sign in with your usual username and password.

  3. You will be prompted to set up 2FA.  Follow the instructions on that page.

3. Scan the Setup QR Code

  • The login page will display a QR code.

  • Open your authenticator app and choose Scan a QR code.

  • Point your phone at the screen. A new account labeled East Central BOCES Web Services will appear in the app

4. Enter Your Code

  • In the login page, type the 6-digit code currently shown in your app and add a name for the login (this can be anything).

  • Submit, and you’re done.

  • This code changes every 30 seconds so if it does not work the first time, check to see if the code updated.

Next time you log in: You’ll enter your password and then a code from the app.  You will need to open the app on your phone to retrieve the code.

⚠️ Do not uninstall the app — you’ll need it each time you log in.

There is also a send to email option if you are having issues. Click on the Try Another Way option to send a code to email.
